| | | Virtual Laboratory -Theater 1 | | |  | |  | | Inside Virtual Laboratory - Theater 1 is Stan D. Ardman, St. Jude’s Emergency Care Simulator (ECS). Stan is a high fidelity 5th generation simulator capable of interacting with nursing students in real time with a combination of over 70,000 physiological responses. Through Stan, students learn communication, critical thinking, decision making and leadership, skills often difficult to observe, let alone teach, in a classroom setting, or when using traditional mannequins. They will feel the adrenalin and emotions of a “CODE” and experience the “real thing” without danger to real patients. St. Jude College also joins the ranks of the world’s top nursing schools in adopting the Program for Nursing Curriculum Integration or PNCI, the world’s most widely used simulations curriculum for nursing education. It has a library of pre-built scenarios for the ECS encompassing the entire breadth of nursing practice, from the fundamentals of nursing care to emergency and critical care. | | | | | | Virtual Laboratory -Theater 2 | | |  | |  | | Within Virtual Laboratory - Theater 2 is Noelle, a 5th generation Maternal and Neonatal Birthing Simulator. Noelle is designed to provide complete birthing experience before, during, and after delivery. Using the simulator enables the nursing student to learn skills on basic and advanced obstetrics scenarios without posing a danger to mother or baby. Noelle can be programmed to deliver in crises such as the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby, breech birth, placenta previa, caesarian section, breathing problems, and other complications. Noelle provides an environment where learning and remediation can be accomplished in a safe and supportive manner. Noelle encourages educational creativity and scenario role playing, thereby helping learners develop skills and critical thinking abilities that will transition into clinical area. |

St. Jude College Inaugurates Hotel and Restaurant Simulator |

The School of International Hospitality Management (IHM) of St. Jude College recently inaugurated its hotel and restaurant simulation facilities. The College believes that effective learning is about hands-on experience outside and inside the school location. Like most other schools, the IHM course already has quality external partners in its internship program. With its simulation facilities, however, the IHM course can now conduct “on-the-job” training within the school premises throughout the entire stay of the student. |
