| St. Jude College Offers Enhanced Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy |

With the growing demand for respiratory therapists both here and abroad, St. Jude College has responded to the needs of the health care industry by providing an enhanced Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) course.
Effective school year 2009 – 2010, the School of Rehabilitation Sciences which houses the BSRT course will have the most well-equipped pulmonary laboratory in the Philippines among schools offering the course. The laboratory was recently inaugurated by the President of the Association of Respiratory Care Practitioners Philippines (ARCPP). Some of the equipment which the students will handle during the course are:
· Variety of ventilators from the MA 1, Bear Series, Siemens 900C, Puritan Bennett 700 and 7200 series, Infant ventilators · CPAP devices, both the fixed and auto modes · Bilevel devices for non-invasive ventilation · Sleep screening laboratory for obstructive sleep apnea · Oxygen monitoring device · ECG, Cardiac monitors, Defibrillators, Infusion pumps · Spirometry · Virtual laboratory where they can practice blood extraction and perform CPR
The competencies in their clinical knowledge and skills will be provided by faculty of the college who are BS Respiratory Therapy graduates with vast experiences in handling respiratory diseases, critical care medicine, sleep study and the use of different equipment and devices. They will be complemented by Fellows and Diplomate of the Philippine College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians.
Upon completion of the course, the graduates can be employed as: · Respiratory Therapist · Educator · Product Specialist in Respiratory Care Industry · Sleep Lab Technician
